Richard Nylon Millinery at The Eternal Headonist

Posted by

Richard Nylon needs little introduction in Australian fashion and millinery circles, being the president of the Millinery Association of Australia until 2013 and celebrated in the Melbourne fashion scene for his immense creativity and super fashionable stylings. His millinery creations have graced the catwalks and collections of many of Australia's finest designers such as Jason Grech, Tony Maticevski, Anthony Capon and Lui Hon amongst others, with one of his pieces (the Elodie Rose) also fronting the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week 2014 campaign. His long standing bridal collaboration with renowned bridal gown designer Gwendolynne, has seen them make beautiful, ethereal, vintage-inspired bridal magic together for many years. He has a creative mind like no other and can do things (millinery things!) with feathers and crinoline you never thought imaginable. A Richard Nylon creation is guaranteed to be different from anything else you've ever seen!

Richard, like many great milliners it seems (think Stephen Jones, and London's quirky Bernstock Spiers) started out in millinery through the 80's club scene, creating hats to go with his extravagant outfits, and if you are familiar with Mr Nylon at all, will know this is something that hasn't changed to this day.

For this season's collection he's really captured the current trend of veiling, cat earspom poms and visors most excellently with some quirky and futuristic pieces. We're also exceptionally lucky to have in store, the fantastical black feathered pieces created for Jason Grech's SS15 collection "Birds of Prey", which featured in MSFW 2014. These are mega limited and we only have 3, so you better get in quick if you want one of these collectable delectables!

So enjoy some Richard Nylon pieces this season and stand ahead of the fashion pack!

(And for a fun fact you might not have known about Mr Nylon, he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of obscure and wacky Italian disco, which we really love him for, as obscure and wacky Italian disco is one of our favourite things too!)
