#HATMOB 3 - Borsalino City Film - The Eternal Headonist x ACMI x VAMFF

Posted by

We are supremely excited to have teamed up with the Australian Centre for the Moving Image to bring you the next #HATMOB event which will take place on Thurs 25th February - the opening night of the ACMI Fashion on Film 2016 series for Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival. And what better way to kick-off this iconic series than with a film about iconic hats, it's not often one of these comes along, and this one is a real treat...

Borsalino City is a story of the classic Borsalino hat; the company, the people that make them and the people who wore/wear them. The Borsalino hat is an icon of film noir, with all the Hollywood legends of the 1920s onwards sporting them - the gangster look was not complete without a Borsalino fedora! From Chaplin - Bogart - Redford, any Hollywood heartthrob worth their acting salt would be wearing one. With beautiful footage and interviews from back in the day, this documentary will be a hat lovers must-see.

So how does #HATMOB fit into this? (and we're sure the uninitiated amongst you are also asking what the hell is #HATMOB anyway????)

Well dear Headonists, #HATMOBs are occasions where hat lovers gather and get dressed up in their favourite hats, dusting off their precious pieces of headwear for admiring glances and a bit of healthy hat envy. For more info, click here for the lowdown from our first event.

For this #HATMOB we'll have a bit of a post-film party at the ACMI Bar, where we can deconstruct the film, admire each others hats, and get down to the tunes of DJ Return who'll be on decks.

There'll be prizes for the best dressed and other treats on the night, and it promises to be a great evening out regardless! Details are as follows:

Thurs 25th February

Film: 7pm

Drinks: 8.30pm onwards

Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), Federation Square, Melbourne
