Each Spring racing season we eagerly anticipate the key headwear trends for the race track, and with over 30 top millinery brands in our store we get a handy sneak peek at the trends designers are setting before anyone else.
So here's our guide to what every fashion lover needs to know about headwear this season to create your winning outfit trackside.

The big trend of the season is definitely the turban or headwrap, don't be seen trackside without one. It's an easy and flattering way to add a bit of style to your outfit. Go for a full turban and jumpsuit for an elegant twist, or try a bright turban headband to inject some fun.
Louise Macdonald has the turban elegance mastered and Benoit Missolin knows exactly how to turn up the fun with his playful turban headbands. Shop the turban trend here.
2. Crowns
Crowns have been a racetrack staple for the past few seasons, but the trend has been recently invigorated on the catwalks of Dolce & Gabbana and shows no sign of slowing down yet. Why not mix it up and go rose gold with this beautiful lemon leaf crown by Lelet NY.
Lelet NY and Stephanie Browne have a great range of metal crowns. Shop our entire crown range here
3. Beaded and Embellished Headbands
Gone are the days of stark minimalism, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana have said more is more, especially on a headband and who are we to argue? Pair a lush velvet with as many sparkles as possible.

Elsa Schiaparelli was one of fashions true innovators, with a short but impressive career between the 1920's and 1950's which boasted collaborations with Dali, arch rivalries with Chanel and commissions for Hollywood's rich and famous.Amongst all of this she is (arguably) best known for her surreal and elegant headwear, with the "Shoe Hat" made in [...]

Ever since we started this Headonistic mission, we dreamed of our own store. Somewhere where stunning contemporary millinery and headwear would be front and centre, but somewhere a bit different from the traditional hatshop. We dreamed of being modern, fun, beautiful and of course with incredible headwear, but mostly we dreamed of being a place [...]
We had been eagerly awaiting the opening of the 200 Years of Australian Fashion exhibition at the NGV, as this nation has really given some the world some innovative and often unconventional designers, many with a uniquely Australian viewpoint on fashion design. Bold prints, Australiana themes, tongue in cheek motifs, all unafraid and left of [...]
We are supremely excited to have teamed up with the Australian Centre for the Moving Image to bring you the next #HATMOB event which will take place on Thurs 25th February - the opening night of the ACMI Fashion on Film 2016 series for Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival. Thom Browne always nails the hats at his shows, with his awe inspiring collaborations with Stephen Jones in previous seasons ensuring that the headwear has always added a surreal and innovative angle to his collections. AW16 is no exception and whilst it's not entirely clear yet whether Stephen Jones did the hats for Thom Browne's AW16 menswear [...]
It's hard to pinpoint the time David Bowie entered my life, he was just always there. An omnipresent, mythical, and fantastical being, infiltrating childhood as the beautiful, yet spooky and mulleted Goblin King, entrancing with his crystal ball, cackling laugh ....and THAT bulge. Eliciting teenage fascination through his dashing good looks, fashion prowess and intensely cool [...]
We are always excited when we are able to bring you new milliners to our store, and love to bring you a diverse range of styles from across Australia, so it has been a great pleasure to bring the elegant work of Brisbane-based Christie Millinery to the virtual (and real!) shelves of The Eternal Headonist.
